802.11n is certified as a standard... about 5 years late  (September 15th). The 802.11n standard employs multi-antenna techniques and wider channel bandwidth to achieve higher data throughput. The standard is backwards compatible with earlier 802.11 standards and can operate on both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands.

India's Government sets the base price for the 3G auction  (August 28th). The saga of the Indian 3G auction has nudged a little bit forward, since on Thursday 27th of August the Indian Government announced the base price for 3G licences. The starting price for bids will be about 38 billion rupees (USD 780 million).

KDDI confirms its LTE schedule  (August 21st). The second largest mobile phone operator in Japan, KDDI, has signed two LTE contracts with Motorola and NEC.

Ericsson wins Nortel auction, leaves NSN empty-handed  (July 30th). This deal results in Ericsson becoming even stronger in North America. NSN must feel disappointed after losing a chance to break through in this market where it has so far been struggling.
